09-05-09 Beach Cleanup
On Saturday, September 5th, Teacher Willy continued his mission of ecology by leading the Scouts on a beach cleanup.
Over 40 children ranging from ages 5-15 gathered early in the morning at San Cristobal’s central playground, and together with 2 New Era Volunteers,
the group marched to the beach with the objective of ridding the beach of all litter. Garbage bags in hand, the children scoured the rocks, vegatation,
and sand for unwanted bottles, plastics, and fragments of wood. After just 2 hours, the group managed to clear a small truckload of trash from the beach.
And of course, to celebrate, the Scouts (and New Era Volunteers) splashed in the waters of Playa Mann.
Scouts, well done and thank you for taking care of your beaches!
