After a long day of painting, Volunteer Coordinator Becky Aicher and other NEGF volunteers relax in front of an educational mural in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, San Cristobal.

As a non-profit Foundation made up entirely of volunteer workers, we are always looking for individuals interested in understanding the needs and interests of the people of San Cristobal, Galapagos. Moreover, we seek open-minded individuals who share our passion for the environment and its conservation, and would appreciate the opportunity to live and work in a natural paradise like the Galapagos Islands. Generally, we look for individuals specialized in one or more of the four programs we offer:

Foreign Languages

Anyone trained in the instruction of foreign languages including English, French, German, Japanese, Italian, and others.

Environmental Education

Students and/or professionals with a background in environmental or other life sciences and with a passion for sharing their knowledge and the patience to work cooperatively with children and young adults are always welcome.

Volunteers help paint a mural of Galapagos wildlife.

Art

Anyone with a background in art and a keen interest in working with children on community and classroom projects.

In addition to the aforementioned opportunities in each of our four educational programs, anyone with a background or experience in working with children, elementary education, technology training, outdoor education, or other potentially related fields are certainly welcome to contact us at any time regarding a possible volunteership.

NEGF President William Puga, Volunteer Coordinator Becky Aicher and other NEGF volunteers gather in front of El Rincon Ecologico.

Generally, we expect all volunteers to have some exposure to the Spanish language, and preferably at least at the conversational level, but are very flexible and willing to make exceptions in certain circumstances. More importantly, any individual(s) interested in volunteering with the New Era Galapagos Foundation is expected to stay a minimum of three months in order to better serve the community of San Cristobal. Unfortunately, due to our extremely limited budget, we are unable to provide transportation, housing, and food costs while volunteering on the island. However, we can and will accommodate any and all interested individuals and make any necessary arrangements so as to minimize the costs of your stay with us.

Anyone interested in this remarkable opportunity of adventure, personal growth, and service should not hesitate to contact us at volunteer@neweragalapagos.org for more information.
