In order to continue our work with the people of San Cristobal, Galapagos, the New Era Galapagos Foundation depends almost entirely on contributions of time, money, equipment, and materials from individuals and institutions alike. Because we are a relatively small and young organization, all contributions, no matter how small, directly affect our ability to provide educational programs and ensure a more sustainable economic and ecological future for the Galapagos Islands and its people.
Cash Donations

A group of visiting tourists sees a different side of Galapagos life at El Rincon Ecologico. |
Our first donation from a local tour operator named Barry Boyce of Galapagos Travel enabled us to open our doors and offer community classes in May of 2000. Since then, we have expanded the breadth and depth of our programs, made improvements to our community center, rented a computer, sponsored two former students to pursue university level studies, organized outdoor cinema and other cultural events, among other things.
Through continued support of generous individuals and institutions, we hope to continue to improve our organization and the services we offer. All donors are notified periodically of the developments and exact programs made possible by their generous contributions, and should feel confident that a little money goes along way towards helping achieving our goals.
Some examples:
$336 pays for one month of rent at our community
center, and $80 covers monthly internet service and
connection fees for staff and students.
Any questions, suggestions, ideas, or concerns regarding cash donations should be directed to info@neweragalapagos.org.

Materials & Equipment

A pair of students work on their English assignment, and their typing skills, in El Rincon Ecologico. |
As stated above, financial support of the New Era Galapagos Foundation is what helped us get started, and what keeps us alive. However, we are always looking for materials and equipment to adorn El Rincon Ecologico and to implement into and improve upon our educational programs.
Textbooks, posters, CD-ROMs, computers, board games, whiteboards, educational videos, air conditioning, stereos, pastels, mats, and countless other materials, new or used, and often taken for granted in developed countries, would greatly improve our capability to provide quality educational programs. Not only are almost all of these items difficult to find in the Galapagos, but also prohibitively expensive for an organization of our size.
As with all cash donations, donors will be periodically notified of the exact program and use of their generous contribution, and anyone interested in donating a computer may receive a tax deduction through our partnership with Interconnection.org.
Anyone interested in a cash donation should send a check to:
