About Us - Board of Directors

Matt Garlick

Matt Garlick.

Chairman

As a World Teach (WT) volunteer on San Cristobal in 2000-01, Matt co-founded FNEG along with William Puga, Xavier Castro, and Carlos Gil. Moved by a combination of the unique and fascinating natural surroundings and the warm community of residents in San Cristobal, Matt established NEGF as a US-based non-profit corporation upon returning to the United States in 2001. He is currently responsible for fundraising, program development, and overall organizational strategy. A graduate of Creighton University (B.A.) and Boston University (M.A.), Matt analyzes the global venture capital industry for VentureOne when not dreaming of the Galapagos and other like places.

Andy Wehrley

Andy Wehrley.

Fundraising

By day, Andy Wehrley sits indoors, behind a desk at Technomics, Inc., a boutique defense consulting firm in Washington, DC that utilizes operations research, creativity and a shining reputation to build cost forecasting models of military systems, primarily for the Department of Defense. He enjoys working with numbers and being immersed in international affairs, but like anyone who has been to San Cristobal and the other Galapagos Islands, he dreams of going back soon. In the meantime, aside from getting fired up about Microsoft's new colorful icons, he is working ardently to keep San Cristobal beautiful and pure. As an English teacher there, Andy fell in love with its people, animals and Grande's batidos (Ecuadorian sugar shakes). Andy grew up in San Francisco's multi-dimensional East Bay, loves the outdoors, and has a B.A. Business-Economics from UCLA.

Becky Aicher

Becky Aicher.

Volunteer Recruitment

Born and raised in the multicultural, small, friendly town of Easton, Pennsylvania, Becky graduated with a BS in biology (focusing on ecology and conservation) from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. She has enjoyed time in both the clutter of the Northeast and the Rocky mountains out west. Becky spent a year as a WT volunteer teaching English and environmental education with FNEG in San Cristobal, Galapagos. She is excited to be back working in the U.S., and, as Volunteer Coordinator, hopes to enable lots of other equally passionate individuals to experience the community of San Cristobal and the beauty of the Galapagos.
